Today I did a practice run on my partner, we have to swap designs and practice the look before our final image has to be shot.
Today we swapped designs and she gave me hers. It was very cool and funky with two big buns on either side of her head and the back had some hair definition with bands going up the back too.
She told me before we started that she wanted to do something with the front sections of the hair around the hair line so she wanted to be do two little Swedish braids starting from a middle partin and stopping down at her ears.
The first thing I did was crimp the hair at the back where the bands are going to go and I did that pattern in the hair. I then moved on to doing the two Swedish braids down the front sections of the hair, this was a little tricky as she has a lot of baby hair that you cant physically get into a braid so I had to do it quite tight to make it still look neat.
When I had perfected the braids I then crimped all the rest of the hair, this is the hair which is going to make up the bun. When I had crimped it all and got in to two sections I got them both in to high pony tails on each side of the head and I created two big buns. Before I started on the buns I got the rest of the hair from the two braids and wrapped them around the band and secured the hair in to place.
I then gripped and pinned it all in to place making sure it was neat too. The back part I lifted up with all the elastic bands in and pinned it in to the bun area. This was a mistake I made because I should have pinned this part up when I had just put the bobbles in to the hair then it wouldn't look as loose and having to wrap extra bits of hair around the bun.
The overall look was really good and neat I was really pleased with the outcome. I liked how the buns came out really big and fluffy as the hair is crimped. I also liked the pattern I made in the hair with the bands in the back too.
The only thing I would do differently is pinning the hair up at the back before I place my buns in to shape as it would be much easier to fix and sort out before hand.
I was really pleased with how It came out and I think I will be okay doing it for my assessment too.
